Heart Valve Replacement Complications Can Decrease With 3-D Printed Models

Heart Valve Replacement Complications Can Decrease With 3-D Printed Models

This Will Reduce The Risk Of Heart Infection And Failure

There are cases in which the aortic valve, the valve between the left ventricle and the aorta, is impaired. This is treated via a minimally invasive procedure which inserts a prosthetic valve through a catheter, replacing the damaged valve. This avoids the risk of open-heart surgery. However, sometimes the blood leaks around the valve because there is not a precise fit, leading to heart infection and failure. To reduce this risk, doctors are using now 3-D printed valve models using several materials. Click here for more information.
