Excessive Use Of Anabolic Steroids Has Unwanted Side Effects

Among Them Are Hair Loss And Cardiovascular Problems

Anabolic steroids are usually called synthetic testosterone, and they are related to professional athletes and bodybuilders. However, it has adverse health consequences, such as hair loss, caused by the excess of testosterone. This hormone promotes alopecia and baldness. In other cases, it might speed up hair thinning and hair loss in people who are genetically predisposed to male pattern baldness. It also affects the hair follicles, which eventually weaken and die. Another side effect of steroids is the development of male breasts, also known as gynecomastia. In this case, the only way to correct it is with surgery. Excessive use of anabolic steroids may also cause cardiovascular problems, decreasing the heart’s capacity to pump blood, and is also related to the hardening of the arteries. Steroids can also cause hypertension and increase the levels of LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol), increasing the risk of heart attack.
