There are gender differences in relation to the risk of heart attack. A woman’s heart is smaller and the walls are thinner. Even though it pumps faster than a man’s it pumps 10 percent less blood. That said, there are diseases that only affect women like endometriosis and pregnancy-related diabetes. Also, women are protected from heart attacks because of the level of estrogen, which drops when they reach the menopause.
