Researchers have found that immune cells can help relieve heart disease or worsen it, depending on their location. They showed that immune cells located inside the heart are activated after an injury, reducing the risk of cardiovascular damage. But if the cells are located in the bloodstream and arrive at her heart, they worsen the disease. This occurs considering that both cell groups are of the same type, which is macrophages that consume cellular debris.
